Yacht diving definitely offers a different experience from a typical dive trip where you simply leave the harbor, dive, and return. With plenty of space and comfortable seating on the yacht, we were able to enjoy the beautiful blue waters of Jeju while taking our surface interval at a relaxed pace. The Mobydick yacht visits a variety of dive sites around Munseom and Seopseom. Depending on the divers' requests, it may also be possible to visit sites that are not normally visited very often. Isn't that one of the special charms of yacht diving?
Yacht diving is generally conducted as two dives. After the first dive, the tanks are refilled with air right on board. After taking a surface interval, we then head back into the water for the second dive. With regular diving, the used tank usually has to be replaced after the first dive. However, the yacht is equipped with an onboard air-filling system, allowing the same tanks to be refilled and used again. This also means there is no need for several divers to move around at the same time to exchange tanks, avoiding the usual crowding and hassle. This time, we spent our surface interval inside the cabin, chatting with the divers and enjoying some relaxed time together.
For this trip, we visited the “Meeting Square”(만남의 광장) and “Southeast”(동남) dive sites at Munseom(문섬). Along with Munseom's unique underwater terrain, we were able to enjoy an impressive underwater landscape where the soft corals appeared especially vibrant and full of life. The weather also worked in our favor, making the whole diving experience even more enjoyable. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that you will be spending quite a bit of time on the yacht. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend preparing motion sickness medication in advance.
Different dive sites, more comfortable travel, and the chance to simply relax and enjoy your time out on the sea. Today, we experienced the waters of Jeju in a slightly more special way.
